What is this? (part 2)
Here's a picture of the inside of the curious outlet I described in my previous post. Notable are the weight of the wiring, somewhere around 12 gauge, and that the wiring is in a box.
There are two of these outlets, one in the dining room and one in the front hallway.
Any new thoughts?

240 V outlets (for AC maybe)?
I asked my dad, who is old, lol... he said it sounds like an old phone jack. lol

I have odd outlets in my 1912 dining room. Mine are outlets to plug in a butler call button. In that yours has 5 wires, maybe yours had various buttons depending on the need.
