Another month, another entry

slab wood 2010

I know it's been forever since I've posted anything here. It might have to do with my utter lack of progress on the house and my lack of desire to work in the cold weather.

It's cold. It's really cold. Did I mention that it's cold? We just used up the last of our firewood from last winter. We've been having fires quite frequently. The fireplace warms up the room quickly.

I ordered three bundles of slabwood, mostly cherry and hickory. This batch, unlike last winter, was debarked, so it should burn better and leave less creosote on the chimney.

Now, I just have to cut it up and avoid saving too much of it for craft/woodworking projects.

I've just had a proper look around here for the first time and felt I wanted to leave a comment telling you how very envious I am of your house. It looks absolutely gorgeous!! *wantwantwant*

I love your blog! I'm a clevelander who is currently studying historic preservation in savannah, georgia. My obsession with the architecture of shaker heights led me to your blog and i'll be following it regularly now. Keep up the good work! :)

Just wanted to let you know you are following my old blog address which doesn't exist anymore.

Here is a link to the story about Lakewood criminally charging me for restoring my house.

Flat roofs can be a little trickier to repair than slanted roofs..repairing a flat roof is more complicated than you expected
